We just got home from an amazing week in Vegas. We left Sunday night for Grand Forks and spent the night at the Ramada Inn. Great hotel. They provided a shuttle to the airport, and let us park our car there for the week. They also provided us with the shuttle on our return to Grand Forks.
At the airport on Monday, we were flying out with Allegiant Air. From Grand Forks, they only fly to Vegas. They were great to deal with, no complaints. Staff were all pleasant and helpful.
We were staying at the Planet Hollywood. Beautiful rooms, with amazing views.
Tip: Buy your alcohol at the ABC stores in the Miracle Mile Mall. Beers are $1.99 etc..compared to $8-10 per drink within the casino. Buy a couple, and walk the 50 feet back into the casino. Although, if you're sitting at a machine, drinks are free.
Tip: La Salsa Cantina is a restaurant at the very back of the Miracle Mile Mall. Nice little place. Breakfast is $3.95 (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns), and a Bloody Mary is 0.99. We both ate for under $12.
Tip: Walk down to Bill's Gambling Hall & Casino and/or Casino Royale for 99 cent Margarita's.
Dining Suggestions:
We ate at a variety of places. Some restaurants I would recommend would be the Cheesecake Factory in Ceasars Palace. The food was amazing, as well as the cheesecake. We went for lunch...two lunch meals, 2 drinks, and a piece of cake came to $47.00 USD.
Another great place was Diablo's, which is south of Planet Hollywood. Great food. They bring you chips and dip to start. I had the jalapeno chicken tacos, amazingly good. My husband had the biggest burger I have ever seen. He ordered two drafts (quite pricey at $8 a piece). Our bill was about $50 USD. Tip: Always look to see the prices of alcohol before ordering, $16 for two drafts hurt alittle.
Late night snack was at Earl of Sandwiches, which is located within Planet Hollywood. My husband ordered a Holiday special - turkey w/cranberries and gravy. $8. Pretty good.
We also ate dinner at La Salsa Cantina, which was located south of Planet Hollywood, by the M & M store. Good food, reasonably priced.
Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville was a little disapointing. No show on Thursday. My $20 sirloin steak meal was okay. I can't say that I would go back there again.
Another okay place, was the Cheeseburger Factory. It is in the Miracle Mile Mall across from where we ate breakfast at La Salsa Cantina. $22 for a cheeseburger meal and an order of hot wings, no drinks. Wings were really good.
Shows:
We went to see Steve Wyrick, with free tickets we receive from attending one of those time share meetings. It was within the Planet Hollywood so we didn't have to go far. We also receive free buffet tickets for the Spice Market buffet. Good buffet, but I would not spend $30 a person for it. Anyways, Steve Wyrick was great. I would pay to take my kids to see him.
Big Elvis - What can I say? Awesome. He has the most beautiful voice. If your eyes were closed you would think it was Elvis. He is called Big Elvis for a reason. He's about 500 pounds and has already lost 560 pounds to date. His show is free, and he's on three times a day at Bills Gambling Hall and Casino. Great 99 cent Margaritas and $2 hotdogs.
Something different:
We took a cab to The Gun Store. Where you get to choose a gun off the wall, and take it for a spin. I've got some photos posted on facebook in Angela's Travel Group. Cost is $1 a round, the machine gun I shot had 50 rounds. It was a little awkward to shoot. Next I shot a 9mm glock handgun (20 rounds). I thought that was better suited for me to manage. It was definitely an experience. I'm not one for guns, but it was well worth the $20 cab ride each way.
All in all, we had a wonderful time. Weather was great. Average of 27-29 all week.
I was quite pleased with Allegiant Air with their service and staff. They have amazing prices and packages out of Grand Forks heading to Vegas. They also fly into Florida out of Fargo.
